gc21George Clooney is born in Lexington, Kentucky, he is a son of Nick Clooney, a TV newscaster of many years, who hosted a talk show at Cincinnati and often invited George into the studios already at the age of 5. Avoiding competition with his father, he quit his job as broadcast journalist after a short time. Clooney was the second and the youngest child of his parents and has an older sister, Adelia. He also has a niece, Alison, and a nephew, Nicholas (aka Nick). He is related to Miguel and Rafael Ferrer (cousins), singer Rosemary Clooney (aunt) and actor José Ferrer (uncle).

 

 

George studied a few years at Northern Kentucky UniversityBefore acting George Clooney tried out for a position on the Cincinnati Reds baseball team but failed.

George is a big fan of the Dallas Mavericks. He also loves to play basketball and was on the 1979 Augusta, Kentucky Basketball Team.

Clooney developed his interest in theatre at Sir Thomas Rich’s Grammar School, in Gloucester, England. When his family moved back to Kentucky, George attended Augusta High School  and earned the lead role in a number of plays.

He came to acting when his cousin, Miguel Ferrer, got him a small part in a feature film. After that, he moved to L.A. in 1982 and tried a whole year to get a role while he slept in a friend’s closet. His first movie, together with Charlie Sheen, stayed unreleased but got him the producers’ attention for later contracts.

 In 1984, Clooney was given a role in a medical comedy drama named E/R. A decade later, he would more famously star in the similarly named, high profile drama ER.

George waged
war against the paparazzi by boycotting “Entertainment Tonight” (1981), the sister show of “Hard Copy” (1989), which had filmed Clooney without his permission.

In 1991 George auditioned five times for Ridley Scott for the role of J.D. in Thelma & Louise (1991), a role that ultimately went to future friend Brad Pitt and catapulted Pitt to super-stardom.

1992 - He auditioned for the role of Mr. Blonde/Vic Vega in Reservoir Dogs (1992), but was turned down.

1994 - He and his Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Ocean’s Twelve (2004) co-stars, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Elliott Gould, and Bruce Willis who did a cameo in Ocean’s Twelve as himself, all have guest-starred on the TV show “Friends” (1994), though not in the same episodes.

In 1996 George appears in ZZ Top’s She’s Just Killing’ Me music video along with actress Selma Hayek. The song is on the soundtrack of From Dusk Till Dawn.

George suffered a terrible accident during the filming of Syriana, causing spinal fluid to leak into his brain, severe back pain, headaches, and memory loss. After several spine surgeries, he fully recovered

George is only one of two men to appear on the cover of Vogue magazine (the other being Richard Gere). He was also on the cover for the premiere of Men’s Vogue in 2005.

2006 George and longtime production partner Steven Soderbergh decided to close their ‘Section Eight’ production company after a six year run, in August 2006.

2007 A group of young children on school holidays set up a lemonade stand near the set of George’s 2007 movie, Leatherheads. Carter Fontaine, aged ten, six-year-old Chandler and five-year-old Chase were selling glasses of lemonade for 25 cents. George came over and posed for pictures with the children’s mother, Courtney, and her friends so she gave him the lemonade for free. But the star insisted on paying and later sent a $US20 dollar bill and refused to accept any change. A sign read “George Clooney was here” was later displayed next to the trio’s stall

George’s famed “Roman haircut” was actually an accident. While filming From Dusk Till Dawn, he wanted to make his character Seth Gecko look really crazy with a chopped off hairstyle, but the haircut became popular and turned into a positive.
